Died a few month ago, in her 'ger', near Hovd river in West Mongolia.
Elda was my 'thied grandmother' and the inspiration for the "Mongolian Eyes" cataract Project.
elda's eye was operated successfully in a clinic in Ulan Batar three years ago, from where she and her husband returned to there home in the westernmost province of Mongolia.
She said to me : "the main reason i want to see again, is to enjoy watching my grandchildren play before i die". Two years have past and Elda is not with us anymore. i can only hope she saw and enjoy her 9 children and numerous grandchildren while she could.
We are continuing with all efforts to carry out the "Mongolian Eye" project in west Mongolia.
The notice of Elda death has straighten the desire of doing so.
